01 / A visitor’s point of view

How a visitor finds the art.

A recognizable marker becomes an invitation. The same number follows a visitor from the printed guide to the artwork story on their phone.

Make the next step clear

Numbers and line styles carry meaning alongside color. A text stop list provides another way to read the route.

In a commissioned guide, confirm step-free access, surfaces, crossings, shade, rest points, and parking with city staff before publishing visitor guidance.

02 / A connected visual system

One visual language,
three formats.

Ink, sand, coral, and teal. One set of numbered markers. A consistent order: find the work, understand its story, choose the next stop.

04 / Approach

From an inventory
to an invitation.

A collaborative method for public art interpretation: keep the artwork central, make information easy to follow, and test the experience in context.

  1. 01

    Listen & organize

Review the city’s artwork inventory, artist credits, image permissions, GIS data, and priorities. Establish a reliable content structure and resolve missing information with staff.

  2. 02

    Find the connections

Explore neighborhood groupings, stories, and walking or driving options. Validate route feasibility and visitor access information with the people who know the sites.

  3. 03

    Build a visual language

Develop recognizable markers, readable typography, and a restrained color system. Translate the hierarchy into fold-outs, mobile detail views, and promotional graphics.

  4. 04

    Test, refine & hand over

Review print proofs at actual size and digital layouts on small screens. Check contrast, keyboard use, text alternatives, and artist attribution. Deliver organized source files and production specifications.
